Mayor’s Homeless Czar Never Shows
On two different occasions, the Mayor’s homeless Czar Dariush Kayhan doesn’t bother to show up for meeting with homeless families. He then decides he will not meet with them at all. His reason for forcing families to come from all over the city on foot pushing strollers filled with crying sleep deprived homeless children? He does not have the answers to our questions – he needs lower paid city employees to answer them. Really.

I guess poor people of color don’t matter enough for him to get the answers.
Maybe we should have pretended we were the Chamber of Commerce.
He doesn’t take the job seriously at all.
It is a joke to him when he clowns us like this.
The policies that need changing are never ending.
Public Private Sponsorship is the key.
Getting close to The White House Council for Community Solutions and Civic Participation will be a great help. REALLY.
Especially when the wealth is here and the corporations are not going to give anything to a system that seems to have too many flaws. The master leasing policy is the first policy that needs to be questioned.
The need for a facility similar to HVRP is immense. A DOMICILE to support every 1000 SROs treating SROs as transitional housing instead of the care not cash policy of direct placement from the streets to the SRO.
That is a formula for failure.
If covenant law is used there will be less evictions and bad tenants. Then all SROs in the system need to have weekly community meetings that WORK. THIS IS what Operation Dignity did in Oakland to the Aztec on 8th. The system works.
Even broke ass Oakland has been blessed with a green shelter.
