The Families and Immigrants (FAIM) Workgroup is a homeless parent-led endeavor that seeks to ensure that all San Francisco families with children have safe, decent, affordable housing. FAIM organizes families living in shelters, in single-room-occupancy hotel rooms, in doubled-up situations, or in other substandard and unstable housing to find creative solutions to the housing crisis. The FAIM families released a report entitled Housing First for Families (104 KB PDF), and are now engaged in a successful campaign of the same name. They are working on a local need-based housing subsidy for families, additional affordable housing units for homeless families, and other forms of housing justice that will bring dignity to San Francisco families.
Our FAIM organizer is Miguel Carrera. Miguel can be reached at 415.346.3740 x319, or faim@cohsf.org.
Meetings are every Tuesday at noon at our office at 468 Turk Street, between Hyde and Larkin.
